Alekhine Chess Club & Goodricke National Chess Academy
       Named after the great Russian chessplayer Alexander Alekhine, the Club was Founded in 1976. The prime objective of its foundation was promotion of this ancient game of Indian origin among youngsters. Very soon the Club became the foremost Chess institution not only in Kolkata, but in India also. Various kinds of activities, like different children tournaments and permanent coaching programme for youngsters from 5 to 14 years old has prepared for the last few decades a number Indians with both national and global chess-masters reputation.

       The membership of the Club and the special coaching centre - Gooodricke Chess Academy - has already reached several hundreds. Some of the members have become international chess-players. Every year, the Academy and the Club organise some tournaments with the participation of number of Indian and foreign players.
